Her son David Lilienstein says she died at home in Toronto surrounded by friends and family.
He said she had a rare form of cancer, which was diagnosed last October.
She stopped touring with the group in 2000 after the death of her husband, Ernest, but made one last performance in Toronto a year ago.
Sharon Hampson and Bram Morrison continue to perform for children under the name, Sharon and Bram.
“She was a warm spirit,” Jeff Andrusyk, agent for Sharon and Bram, said on Thursday. “She loved her fans. She was very appreciative of the career that she had, the lives that she touched.”
Andrusyk, 29, said he was one of the fans who was moved by the group’s harmonies.
“I grew up with Sharon, Lois and Bram,” Andrusyk said.
News of her death on Wednesday immediately trended on Twitter.
