Woman dead after rollover on Deerfoot Trail

A woman was killed and another was sent to hospital following a serious crash on Deerfoot Trail in Calgary on Wednesday night.
At about 9:30 p.m., crews were called to the scene in the southbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail, just north of the Bow Bottom Trail turnoff.
Police say a 2001 Nissan Maxima lost control while driving at a high rate of speed on the road, slid off the highway, and then rolled through a fence.
The car came to a stop on its roof in the Maple Ridge Golf Course.
Both occupants of the vehicle were women and police say the passenger, 33, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The second woman, the driver, was extricated from the wreckage and transported to Foothills Hospital with serious injuries.
Police are investigating the incident, but believe that spend and alcohol contributed to the crash.
Any witnesses to the crash who can provide information to police are asked to call the CPS Traffic Section at 403-567-4000.
